About Anatomy of Design

Where Inspired Design Meets Experienced Construction

We believe a beautiful space begins with understanding how every element works together — from layout and cabinetry to countertops, flooring, finishes, and final construction.

Design. Build. Furnish.

At Anatomy of Design, we believe a beautiful space begins with understanding how every element works together — from the layout and cabinetry to the countertops, flooring, finishes, and final construction.

Created as a destination where homeowners, designers, and builders can bring their ideas to life, Anatomy of Design offers a curated selection of cabinetry, countertops, flooring, and design finishes alongside the experience and resources needed to take a project from concept to completion.

Our approach brings the design showroom and construction experience together under one roof. Whether you're refreshing a kitchen, remodeling an entire home, building an addition, or starting a new home from the ground up, our goal is to make the process more cohesive, informed, and beautifully executed.

Our Philosophy

More Than a Showroom

01

Imagine What's Possible

Anatomy of Design was created to be more than a place to select materials. It's a place to imagine what's possible — where clients can explore cabinetry, countertops, flooring, fixtures, and finishes while having access to professionals who understand what it actually takes to build what they envision.

02

Design Meets Construction

That connection between design and construction allows us to consider not only how a space should look, but how it should function, how it should be built, and how all the pieces come together.

03

One Roof, Every Resource

Whether you need help selecting the perfect cabinet style or a team capable of transforming an entire property, Anatomy of Design and FireSign Design Build can take you from inspiration to installation — and beyond.

04

Experienced Licensed Tradespeople

The FireSign Design Build team is comprised of experienced licensed tradesmen and tradeswomen, along with a trusted network of skilled subcontractors, architects, engineers, and industry professionals.

For Kimberly Lacy-Lightford, design is more than creating beautiful spaces — it's about bringing vision, functionality, and craftsmanship together to enhance the way people live.

Kimberly's passion for design began at an early age, growing up in a home with her mother, an interior decorator. She learned to paint professionally at 16, and by 21 had launched her own painting business — laying the foundation for a lifelong career in design and entrepreneurship.

Her creative talents eventually led her to HGTV, where she became a familiar face as the on-camera project manager and design personality on Curb Appeal: The Block for six seasons.

Over the past 13 years, Kimberly has built an established career in residential and commercial construction through Firesign Design Build LLC, specializing in renovations, remodeling, additions, new construction, and design-build services. Her experience combines a designer's creative eye with the technical knowledge and practical expertise of a licensed general contractor.

Today, Kimberly brings these worlds together through Anatomy of Design, a design studio and showroom specializing in cabinetry, countertops, flooring, and curated interior finishes. Offering both design and construction services, Anatomy of Design provides clients with a seamless experience from inspiration and material selections to installation and completed spaces.

With a background spanning construction, interior design, fashion, and television, Kimberly brings a distinctive perspective to every project. Her philosophy is simple: great design should be beautiful, functional, personal, and built to last.

Every space has a story. Let's create one worth living in.
